Many renters 'still keen to climb the property ladder'

Many people who rent their home are still keen to climb on to the
property ladder and purchase a home of their own at some point in
the future, according to one industry commentator.
Karen Barrett, chief executive of Unbiased.co.uk, made her remarks
following the publication of figures which indicated that 13 per
cent of renters still hope to purchase a property of their
own.
The research also showed that owning a home is most popular among
consumers between the ages of 18 and 34, with just under a quarter
(22 per cent) of people in this age bracket hoping to buy a
property in the future.
Of those who rent, Ms Barrett said: "Some still want to get on the
property ladder, despite the recent crash."
Securing a mortgage for a property could become easier in the
future, if comments by Katie Tucker, technical manager at
mortgageforce, are anything to go by.
In recent days, she said that more affordable home loans could be
on the market in the next 12 months.
