Feltwell is a small village with a thriving community. The village has a small primary school which was originally built as a hospital. The pubs, The Lodge and the West End are popular spots for the village locals and there is also a social club. There are also two churches and a Methodist Chapel. The street known as “The Beck” was once a river. Feltwell also has an 18-hole golf course open to members and non-members.
Feltwell is adjacent to the air base where the schools and some support services are located. RAF Feltwell hosts the annual 4th of July Firework display open to members of the local community.
Location
The village lies near the border of Cambridgeshire and Suffolk as well as being close to several airbases, notably Feltwell, Lakenheath and Mildenhall. It is 21 miles south of King’s Lynn and 13 miles south of Downham Market although it is also quite close to Thetford (14 miles) and Ely (19 miles).
